beloved

tell me where there are people sitting on the earth singing
singing for the purity of our hearts,
singing for love

I will travel any distance to be there
my body is a natural reservoir for these incantations and melodies
that work wonders

to empty our cup
allow us to be still in the void
and be refilled

this earth is so beautiful I will never tire of leaves in the wind, sandy shores, the mica glittering in the sun, ah the sun..

and when I can see the night sky with thousands of stars,
the cloud of the milky way, I am torn apart
devastated by beauty and longing

on one hand I know there is more to be seen,
there are still lights obscuring the heavens,
and on the other, grief that I have lived so many years in places
where I am lucky if at night
I can see even one faint star through the city's glare

I love it when I spend long enough
in the wilds singing, lost in love,
that I can hardly remember how to spell upon my return
